Responsibilities
- design and implement a robust global trade compliance program that aligns with both European and international regulations,
- provide guidance to leadership on managing risks, optimizing trade expenses, and supporting worldwide business objectives,
- act as the primary contact for regulatory authorities, overseeing classification processes, documentation accuracy, and compliance audits,
- continuously monitor regulatory changes and ensure company-wide adherence through training and collaboration with key departments,
- create and maintain a consistent yet flexible strategy for tracking and applying regulatory updates across the company’s global operations,
- harmonize classification systems such as HTS and ECCN, considering country-specific requirements,
- advise senior management on trade compliance risks and propose practical mitigation strategies,
- collaborate closely with supply chain and finance teams to manage duties, tariffs, and optimize trade-related costs,
- maintain proactive engagement with governmental agencies concerning licenses, audits, and inquiries,
- stay informed on geopolitical developments impacting sanctions, embargoes, and market accessibility,
- oversee compliance with denied party screening and embargo regulations,
- ensure full compliance with import/export documentation, customs regulations, and licensing requirements,
- lead trade compliance audits and oversee corrective action implementation when necessary,
- partner with procurement, logistics, and supply chain teams to streamline compliance processes and improve cost efficiency,
- support international business growth by providing insights on trade regulations and entry strategies,
- conduct internal compliance reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, Law, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional trade compliance certifications are highly preferred,
- relevant certifications such as Certified Export Specialist, Licensed Customs Broker, or CUSECO are advantageous,
- at least 5 years of experience in global trade compliance roles, preferably within multinational corporations,
- strong knowledge of EU and international trade regulations,
- proven experience handling import/export classifications, licensing, and regulatory audits on a global scale,
- excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks effectively,
- strong communication and leadership skills to influence and train various internal stakeholders,
- familiarity with free trade agreements (FTAs) and strategies for duty optimization,
- fluency in English is required; proficiency in Italian or German is a plus,
- a proactive, hands-on attitude with creative problem-solving capabilities.
